Tasting commentary
2022, Towards a new 1982?   After a particularly cool 2021, 2022 plunged us into the opposite excess: a very hot, dry summer, punctuated by 3 heatwaves.  Rarely seen in our region.  Temperatures of between 35 and 40 degrees, unusual for our oceanic climate, more akin to a Mediterranean climate. Fortunately, Vitis Vinifera has its origins in the Mediterranean basin, allowing our vines to adapt naturally to these high temperatures. Nonetheless, our climate is changing and we're going to have to deal with it:  650 mm of rain, instead of the usual 950 mm a year, temperatures well above thirty-year averages, more sunshine all summer long.  The result of this exceptional season is an equally exceptional wine, thanks to the perfect ripeness of each of our grape varieties.  But due to the lack of rain and, above all, the high temperatures, yields were among the lowest of recent vintages. This year, we will produce only 35hl/ha. Harvesting began early, on September 13, and finished on September 30. Rapid vinification, with gentle, light extractions, produced a wine full of fruit and sweetness, which will retain its freshness.    Our wines will therefore be beautiful, but rare. With such a high level of ripeness, will we be able to repeat the legendary vintage of 1982? Only time will tell.
