Owner's words
After a relatively early budburst, the young shoots of Château Fonréaud did not go far from disaster. Indeed, we came close to frost, but thanks to its exceptionnal location on the highest point of the Medoc, the vineyard was spared. Once the fear of frost had passed, we experienced a month of June with abundant rainfall, then a cool month of July inducing strong mildew pressure and a delay in ripening. Fortunately, the temperatures rose and the clouds dissipated at the beginning of August to give way, finally to summer! 4 weeks of good weather and heat allowed the vineyards to atch up and a few occasional showers in September led us to good ripeness and the harvest took place in exellent conditions. The alcoholic fermentations were carried out favoring the extraction of the fruit. The wines have a beautiful garnet colour and have a silky structure that augurs well for a very nice evolution in the bottle. The palate is well-balanced, all-in finesse, on a bright fruit! A fine and elegant wine giving pride of place to the fruit!
