Owner's words
Château Maucaillou 2023 reveals a deep ruby colour with intense highlights. The nose is expressive and refined, revealing a generous range of aromas: ripe black fruits such as blackberry and black cherry intertwine with subtle, elegant notes of empyreumatic mocha, cocoa, light tobacco and sweet spices. On the palate, the attack is supple and well-balanced, faithful to the promise of the nose, and carried by a fine sweetness. The mid-palate gains in fullness and structure, with a delicately mellow woodiness where mocha and light tobacco take centre stage. The ripe, silky tannins give the wine depth and elegance, without any austerity. The finish is long and precise, carried by a racy tannic structure combining restrained power and finesse. A touch of nutmeg subtly enhances this persistent, harmonious and flavoursome palate. A wine that is already seductive in its youth, with great complexity and excellent ageing potential.
