Vinification
In 2024, white wine vinification at Château Pape Clément was marked by an approach combining precision and respect for the fruit. After gentle pressing in an inert atmosphere to preserve aromatic purity, the musts were cold settled before being racked into barrels and foudres of all shapes and sizes. We ferment all the wines at low temperature to better control the fermentation kinetics and ensure a fine aromatic complexity. Alongside the barrels, a proportion of the must is fermented in ceramic ovoid vats, which encourage the wine to work on its lees and give it a fuller texture, particularly for our Semillon. Ageing on fine lees, with regular stirring of the lees depending on the profile of each batch, helps to refine the balance and add fatness, while retaining the freshness that is characteristic of Pape Clément whites.
10 months: 50% in barrels (1/3 new wood) - 40% in tuns - 10% in various containers (sandstone-concrete-stainless steel)

Owner's words
Château Pape Clément white is a brilliant pale yellow, speckled with silver. The nose is bright and aromatic, revealing notes of citrus, white fruits and tropical fruits, underpinned by aromas of chalk and delicate spices as it opens up. On the palate it is vibrant and lively, echoing the complexity of its aromas that linger to the finish, which displays beautiful mineral depth, a silky richness and a refreshing touch of salinity.
